PRISCILLA BENYAHIA بريسيلا بن يحيى
(b. in 1999) is a French-Algerian artist based in Paris, who recently graduated from La Villa Arson (Nice, 2023). Her multidisciplinary practice draws on fictional and non-fictional narratives. Priscilla transforms narration and language into artworks by exploring the spaces between the literal, irony, and wordplays. Materials are chosen for their homonymous or historical significance, emphasizing the transformative power of words and how physical forms shape perception. Recurring themes in her work include the relationship between magic and labor, domesticity and technology. She has participated in numerous group shows, in Paris, Nice, Brussels, Barcelona and Leipzig and given readings at various venues. She has undertaken residencies in Greece, Strasbourg and is an Onassis Air Fellow for the extended research residency in Athens. In 2024, she conducted workshops around hair felting and hair work in collaboration with Matter of Trust (San Francisco, USA) and Octop’us (Strasbourg, FR) an organization that creates hair mats to clean up oil spills.
